Fort Dodge police and firefighters work at the scene of a one-vehicle crash Friday night on Haskell Street near Fourth Avenue North. One woman who was a passenger in the car was taken to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center. Police Sgt. Steve Hanson said the Chevrolet Impala was westbound on Fourth Avenue North, failed to make the turn at the bottom of a hill onto Haskell Street and struck the utility pole head-on. The crash happened at about 10:24 p.m. Hanson identified the driver as Preston Bass, 21, of Fort Dodge. He said there were three people in the car, but only one was taken to the hospital. MidAmerican Energy was notified to check the condition of the utility pole.
