Several LME trucks sit idle Friday afternoon at the company’s Fort Dodge depot located at 2515 Seventh Ave. S.

The Fort Dodge terminal of a Minnesota-based trucking company has been shuttered because the firm suddenly went out of business.

LME Inc., once known as Lakeville Motor Express, shut down Friday.

On its web site, the Roseville, Minneosta, based company posted a statement that reads ”We apologize for the inconvenience of the situation, but effective July 12, 2019, LME Inc. will no longer be making pickups or deliveries of freight due to unforeseen circumstances and have ceased operations.”

The company’s terminal at 2515 Seventh Ave. S. appeared to be closed late Friday afternoon. About five trailers and two tractor-trailer combinations were parked outside of it.

Information on how many people worked there wasn’t available Friday.

Lakeville Motor Express set up shop in Fort Dodge in October 2000. Its first terminal was at 1357 Third Ave. N.W.

When that terminal opened, its staff consisted mostly of former employees of Crouse Cartage Co., which had recently closed its Fort Dodge location.

The company was founded in 1921.

It did business in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin. It had 30 terminals.
