A pickup truck went off the road Monday and crashed into the side of the Heartland Communications building, located at Central Avenue and 10th Street. Fort Dodge Police Capt. Ryan Gruenberg said the male driver appeared to have an unknown medical incident, leading him to crash into the building. The driver was northbound on 10th Street from First Avenue South. Officers responded to the scene at 10:30 a.m. Gruenberg said the driver was taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center for observation. Gruenberg declined to identify the driver because it involved a medical incident. It’s estimated the damage to the building was about $1,000. The Fort Dodge Fire Department also responded to the scene.
