Goldfield shooting update

GOLDFIELD – A man who was shot during an altercation at a Goldfield home Tuesday later turned up walking along a gravel road in rural Wright County, according to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.

According to the DCI, the Eagle Grove Police Department responded to 722 N. Pine St. at about 5 p.m. after neighbors reported hearing gunshots coming from that home.

Once there, officers talked to someone who witnessed the shooting.

According to Mike Krapfl, DCI special agent in charge, Rich Crawford, 38, was shot in the chest by a male who is not being identified at this time.

Crawford was later found walking on a gravel road in rural Goldfield.

He was transported to Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, where he has since been treated and released.

No charges have been filed in the case. The crime remains under investigation by the DCI.

The Wright County Sheriff’s Department, Humboldt County Sheriff’s Department, and Iowa State Patrol, assisted.
