Contract approved for work on county-owned parking lot

A local construction company was awarded a contract by the Webster County Board of Supervisors Tuesday to improve a parking lot at the county-owned bank building.

The supervisors unanimously approved a $176,623.55 contract with Russ’s Construction, of Fort Dodge.

The work will include improvements to the parking lot on the south side of the Webster County Community Services Building, located at 723 First Ave. S.

Supervisor Mark Campbell said the work will include a variety of improvements.

“They’ll be doing landscaping, drainage, all new concrete,” Campbell said.

The project will also include new fencing around Dumpsters that are located in the parking lot, as well as new parking spaces.

It’s also possible that Northwest Bank’s ATM, located in the middle of the parking lot, may be moved.

Campbell said some patchwork has been done in the parking lot over the years but it’s time for the entire parking lot to be redone.

He did not have a start date for the project.

The supervisors also approved the retirement of Gayla Moore, a longtime dental hygienist with the Webster County Health Department.

Campbell praised Moore during the meeting.

“She’s been with us a long time and did a great job,” he said. “We really want to thank her for all her work.”

Board members also approved a new electronic county seal to be used on county documents and ballots. County Auditor Doreen Pliner said state law requires counties to have electronic seals.
