EAGLE GROVE – The driver of a sport utility vehicle has been transported to a Des Moines hospital after striking a snowplow in Wright County this morning.

Lt. Mark Miller, of the Iowa State Patrol, said the snowplow, operated by the Iowa Department of Transportation, was northbound on Iowa Highway 17 about 2 miles south of Eagle Grove.

A sport utility vehicle was approaching from the opposite direction.

Miller said the driver of the Blazer lost control and hit the front end of the snowplow.

The driver was first transported to UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Miller did not know the extent of the driver’s injuries.

More information is expected to be released later this afternoon.
