Grain, pig trucks collide on Highway 7

MANSON – Two semi trucks have collided on Iowa Highway 7 just outside of Manson.

Part of the road has been shut down and will be for a few hours, according to Iowa State Patrol Sgt. Aaron Smidt.

He said one of the trucks, which was carrying pigs, was northbound on Van Buren Avenue and was turning onto Highway 7. Because of fog, Smidt said the driver did not notice a grain truck that was eastbound on Highway 7.

The trucks collided, causing grain to be spilled onto the roadway and releasing some of the pigs.

The only reported injury was to the driver of the grain truck, who had a laceration on his head. But Smidt said the man was conscious and speaking with rescuers.

Some pigs were also killed in the crash, but Smidt did not know how many.
