Republican Judy Warwick, Webster City, the assistant county treasurer for Hamilton County, defeated Democrat Colleen Hansen in the race for county treasurer Tuesday.

According to the unofficial results, Warwick received a total of 4,040 votes while Hansen garnered 2,274 votes.

Warwick, a lifelong Webster City resident, has worked in the county treasurer’s office for the past 23 years.

“It feels very, very, very exciting, and I thank all of the people of Hamilton County who voted for me. I can’t wait until Jan. 2 and take over,” said Warwick. “I don’t plan on making a lot of changes. I do hope to keep the driver’s license station open for five days a week instead of the 2 1/2. Hopefully everything moves in nice and smooth.”

Hansen has worked in the Hamilton County Secondary Roads department since 1987, serving as office manager.

“I want to thank everybody who voted for me. I really appreciate all the support and help that I’ve had throughout this whole thing,” said Hansen. “I want to congratulate Judy.”

Warwick will take office in January. She will succeed Treasurer Joni Hilpipre, who will retire in December.
