Bacon holds onto House District 48 seat
WEBSTER CITY — Incumbent Robert Bacon, a Republican from Slater, cruised to re-election for the Iowa House District 48 seat Tuesday night, defeating Democratic challenger Tim Winter, of Kelley.
According to unofficial vote counts, Bacon received nearly 59 percent of the vote, compared to Winter’s 41 percent.
“I’m just ecstatic,” Bacon said. “I’m almost in tears.”
Bacon has served in the House for six years and Tuesday night pledged to continue working for the constituents of his district.
“I want to give a mighty big thank you to all of those people who voted for me,” he said, adding, “I’m deeply humbled by the trust they have placed in me.”
Winter was unavailable for comment at press time.
In Hamilton County, Bacon swept the race with 3,805 votes while Winter received 2,380.
