Fort Dodge Fire Lt. Tom Ubben, front, and Andy Midtling, a Fort Dodge firefighter and paramedic, examine the back of one of the department’s ambulances after it was involved in an accident at the intersection of Fifth Avenue South and South 15th Street around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. Fort Dodge Police Sgt. Zach Stanley said a woman had rear-ended the ambulance, causing a piece of the back bumper to apparently fall off. Paramedics were transporting a patient to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center at the time of the accident, and a second ambulance had to come and pick up that patient to continue the transport.
