13 Days of Halloween

-Messenger photo by Hans Madsen
The Messenger 13 Days of Halloween continues with a wide variety of skeletons ranging from a full sized horse with a night in shiny armor to a tiny mouse at 1309 Eighth Ave. N. in Fort Dodge. The display is the work of Kathryn Merseal and Chris Gord. Each year the couple adds more features to their display including the giant dragon at right. A night, fire comes from the columns. New this year is a balloon animal with a skeleton inside, more pumpkins, and a tombstone with people who have not made it on the TV show “The Walking Dead.” There’s also a mouse about to consume several pieces of dried-out cheese, “It’s gross,” she said. A popular attraction in the neighborhood on Beggar’s Night, there’s one more new thing. “We have a brand-new popcorn popper,” she said. “We’ll have popcorn again.” To nominate at display call 573-2141, ext. 472, or email hmadsen@messengernews.net.
