Man struck by vehicle in Humboldt

HUMBOLDT — A man was taken to the hospital in Humboldt after he ran into the path of an oncoming vehicle Tuesday.

The Iowa State Patrol identified the man as Joseph Murphy, of Humboldt.

According to the state patrol’s accident report, Murphy was walking east on the south sidewalk along First Avenue North in Humboldt.

Just east of Ninth Street North, Murphy ran out into the path of a Chevrolet Traverse, driven by Jana Stogdill, of Humboldt.

Stogdill had been driving her sport utility vehicle eastbound on First Avenue North.

The incident was reported to the Humboldt County Law Enforcement Center at 11:16 a.m.

Murphy was taken to Humboldt County Memorial Hospital. Trooper Mark Anderson, who investigated the incident, did not know Murphy’s condition.
