Tips to local law enforcement lead to drug search, arrest

Law enforcement officers in Webster County are crediting the public with getting a drug investigation started, which led to a search warrant executed Thursday morning and the arrest of a man on federal warrants.

The search was conducted at 1230 N. 11th St., according to Capt. Ryan Gruenberg, of the Fort Dodge Police Department.

He said the search was the result of a drug investigation that spanned months which involved “several individuals distributing narcotics” throughout the Fort Dodge area.

Members of the Webster County Drug Task Force and Fort Dodge/Webster County Special Emergency Response Team conducted the search.

As a result of the search, a man was arrested by federal authorities on an outstanding warrant. Gruenberg said that man is not being identified at this time, pending the outcome of the criminal case.

Gruenberg added that the investigation is still ongoing.

Officers were made aware of the drug activity after receiving information from the public. Gruenberg said people noticed suspicious activity happening in their neighborhood and reported it to police.

“This case is another great example of the citizens of Webster County working together with law enforcement to make our neighborhoods safe,” he said.

The Fort Dodge Police Department, Webster County Sheriff’s Department and Fort Dodge Fire Department also assisted on scene.
