Everyone out safely in rural Moorland fire
Firefighters from Moorland, Callender and Barnum respond to a house fire at 2146 Hayes Ave. around 6:45 p.m. Sunday, north of Moorland. Everyone got out of the house safely, said Webster County Sheriff’s Deputy Derek Christie. The homeowner had some smoke inhalation, but was treated at the scene, Christie said. The fire appeared to be in the attic, and was contained as the house has a tin roof, but the cause was unknown as of Sunday night. No flames were visible from outside as smoke rolled from the house and firefighters went to work inside. Fort Dodge Fire Rescue also responded to the scene. The house belongs to Larry and Jennifer Earnest according to records from the Webster County Assessor’s office.
