Fort Dodge firefighters assist with an accident where a semitrailer hit a car at the intersection of U.S. Highway 169 and Kenyon Road Monday. Iowa State Patrol Trooper Paul Gardner said the semi was northbound on 169 when the man who was driving ran a red light and broadsided a Chevrolet Impala that was traveling through the intersection. Gardner didn’t know whether the woman driving the Impala was continuing on Kenyon Road or preparing to turn onto 169. The Impala driver was taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center with injuries, but Gardner didn’t know the extent of them. Names of those involved were not available by press time. The semi driver was not hurt. The Fort Dodge Police Department and Webster County Sheriff’s Department assisted on scene.
