Iowa Falls man dies in Hamilton County crash

An Iowa Falls man is dead after he lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a utility pole near the Hamilton and Story County line Sunday afternoon, according to Iowa State Patrol crash reports.

Chad L. Chelsvig, 34, was traveling northbound in a Chevrolet Nova on U.S. Highway 69 near the intersection of 100th Street when the car went off the roadway to the left. It struck a utility pole in the northwest corner of the intersection, according to the report.

The car came to rest on the driver’s side.

Chelsvig was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

He was transported by ambulance to Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Chelsvig was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
