Golf outing will support firefighters’ causes

On Saturday, Fort Dodge and area golfers will have an opportunity to not only enjoy their game, but also help the Fort Dodge Firefighter’s Association raise money during the annual Fort Dodge Firefighters Association Golf Tournament.

Tee off for the event is at 9 a.m. at the Fort Dodge Country Club.

According to the event’s organizers, 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Fort Dodge Firefighter’s Association. The money is used for a variety of purposes and projects that include four $500 scholarships divided evenly between St. Edmond Catholic School and Fort Dodge Senior High.

They also purchase various fire safety items for children who visit the fire station and for the firefighters to give away during school visits and other public events.

Firehouse supplies not covered by the city’s budget are also purchased with funds they raise and the FD Firefighter’s Association has helped pay for exercise equipment for the firefighters to use at the station to stay in top physical condition.

The Association also hosts the annual Fireman’s Ball.

The cost per team in the four person best ball tournament is $260 per team. That includes golf, cart, Mulligans and a meal.

In addition, there’s a silent auction and following the golf, dinner and prizes. Both of those events are at Amigos.
