Christian Fisher was thrown from vehicle

TITONKA — The man who was critically injured after crashing his pickup truck in a ditch near Titonka early Tuesday morning has been identified, the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department reported.

Christian Fisher, 25, of Burt, was driving a 1998 GMC Sonoma eastbound on Kossuth County Road B19 when he reportedly drifted onto the south shoulder, according to crash reports.

Fisher then overcorrected, crossed both lanes of traffic and a private driveway, located at 1901 300th St., before the vehicle went airborne.

The truck landed in the north ditch and rolled end over end twice before coming to a stop on the driver’s side.

Fisher was ejected from the rear window of the truck as it rolled, according to crash reports.

The accident was reported at about 3:40 a.m., but the exact time of the crash remains unknown, according to the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department.

Fisher was reportedly found unconscious by first responders more than 100 feet from where the truck came to rest.

He was transported by ambulance to Kossuth Regional Health Center before being airlifted to Mercy Medical Center — North Iowa in Mason City with life-threatening head injuries.

Fisher remains in critical condition, according to Angie Creger, a spokeswoman for the hospital.

The Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department, Burt Volunteer Fire Department, Titonka Ambulance, and Algona Ambulance were on scene. The Algona Police Department assisted at the Kossuth Regional Health Center.

The crash remains under investigation.
