Both drivers claim green light

Rescue workers attend to a white Chevy Malibu and a red Chevy Sonic, center, that collided at Fifth Avenue South and 32nd Street.The Malibu was westbound on Fifth Avenue when it t-boned the Sonic in the passenger doors at about 9:35 a.m. Wednesday, said Fort Dodge Police Officer Matt Weir. The Sonic was northbound, but ended up facing south in this photo. “Apparently they got the lights wrong,” Weir said. Loretta Walker, of Johnston, driving the Malibu, and Patsy VanEvery, Fort Dodge, driving the Sonic, both said they had a green light, said Police Sgt. Zach Stanley. With a lack of other witnesses, no citations will be issued. The driver and passenger of the Malibu were taken to UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center with injuries Weir said were not life threatening, while VanEvery was not transported.
