Decker Truck Line can add another honor to its growing list of accomplishments in recent years.

The Fort Dodge trucking company has been named one of the 2022 top 20 best fleets to drive for by the Truckload Carriers Association and CarriersEdge.

The list includes trucking companies throughout North America. Decker was the only Iowa company on the list.

“This is a huge honor in the trucking industry and we are very excited and honored to receive this recognition,” said Tammy O’Tool, vice president of administration.

Decker was nominated for the recognition by Don Nealey, a professional driver for the company.

The application process included: a questionnaire, interviews with TCA and CarriersEdge, and driver surveys.

“We had to gather information from every department,” O’Tool said. “It was Decker Truck Line inside and out. We submitted multiple documents which explain how we operate and are a driver-friendly company.”

The top 20 winners are comprised of for-hire trucking companies from across North America who are being recognized for providing exemplary work environments for their professional truck drivers and employees.

“This year we saw more than 200 fleets nominated by their drivers for this program, and all participants were clearly stepping up their game,” said CarriersEdge CEO Jane Jazrawy. “This year’s top 20 and Hall of Fame fleets rose to the top with a range of innovative and effective programs that continue to improve the work experience for their drivers.”

Decker employs about 750 drivers. Don Decker, the company’s president and chairman of the board, is proud of the accomplishment.

“I want to express my sincere gratitude to our professional drivers and our office team and everyone who took part in the process of being selected as a top 20 carrier in the 2022 TCA best fleets to drive for,” Decker said. “I know this is quite a process and I’m extremely proud of this accomplishment. I’ve had the belief for many years that Decker Truck Line is an outstanding company and it is especially rewarding to know that it is recognized by our drivers, staff, peers and now the Truckload Carriers Association.”
