NEWS: Iowa Gov. Harold Hughes made a flying visit to St. Edmond School — literally. He arrived by helicopter at the school athletic field at 3 p.m. and left at 4:15 p.m. on his way to Sioux City.

SPORTS: Louis Rosalez, of Fort Dodge, reported shooting an eight-point buck deer with a bow and arrow.
