9 FDSH students selected to All-State Music Festival

Twenty-two band/vocal students from Fort Dodge Senior High recently auditioned for the 2017 Iowa High School Music Association’s All-State Music Festival. Nine Dodger vocalists were selected:

They are: Karisa Meier, senior — soprano; Olyvia Selby, junior — soprano; Keziah Henkelman, junior — alto; Brayden Bell, senior — tenor; Dartangan Dohrn, senior – tenor; Joey Kelley, freshman — tenor; Landon Getting, senior — bass; Eli Asay, senior –bass; Collin Ellsbury, junior — bass.

“Watching the students support each other, both happy and sad, is truly the best part of the day,” said Matt Dress, FDSH vocal instructor. “We are so proud of each of the students who auditioned and are very grateful to have nine students selected to the elite All-State Chorus.”

The selected students will perform at the All-State Music Festival Nov. 17 and18 in Ames. The final concert will take place Nov.18, at 7:30 p.m. at Hilton Coliseum in Ames.

All seats for the concert are reserved and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or at the Iowa State University Athletics Ticket Office.

Additional FDSH students who auditioned were: Kayla Smith on clarinet, Lauren Butler on violin, and Chelsea Sayer, Emily Asay, Courtney Cordle, Natalie Peterson, Kirsten Wendell, Chloe Hamlow, Ellie Yoder, JR Brandt, Olivia Mitchell, Skyler Nielsen and Jamie Lennon as vocalists.
