FDSH holds first-ever academic letter award night

Recognizes 141 students for academic achievement

Fort Dodge Senior High held its first-ever Academic Letter Award Night March 21 to recognize students for outstanding academic achievement.

The new program recognizes students who have earned a 3.5 or higher grade point average for three consecutive semesters. The first time students achieve this accomplishment they receive the Academic Letter and each additional time they achieve a 3.5 grade point average for three consecutive semesters they receive a bar to put on their letters.

FDSH honored 141 students with their Academic Letter at this event. In addition, 38 students earned their first bar and 21 additional students earned two bars.

“There is so much success here at Fort Dodge Senior High and academics is no exception,” said Dr. Kenneth Hayes, FDSH principal. “I am honored and enthusiastic to be able to share in the academic successes of our students through the Academic Letter Award program. I am also grateful to Availa Bank for sponsoring this program and helping us to begin this recognition!”
