FDCS Foundation raises more than $66,000

The Fort Dodge Community Schools Foundation raised more than $66,000 at its annual fundraiser, Go Big, Go Dodgers, Molly Nelson, the foundation’s director, reports.

“We are thrilled with the results,” Andrea DeJong, FDCS Foundation board president, said. “Amazing support from sponsors, auction item donors, bidders and event attendees helped make it a great night for education.”

The Go Big, Go Dodgers event was held April 6 at Fort Frenzy. DeJong said more than 300 people attended.

“What an amazing event for our kids, our schools and our community,” said Ed Shimkat of Shimkat Motor Co., an event sponsor. “Through the tremendous community giving and support, as well as the efforts of the teachers and staff, we are able to do more for our students to provide the tools and resources they need to succeed. I am proud to call Fort Dodge home.”

DeJong said the money raised will be used for professional development, technology and other educational items.

In 2017, the FDCS Foundation granted $45,000 to enhance education.
