Bishop Garrigan releases large group contest results

ALGONA — Bishop Garrigan High School Concert Band and A Cappella Choir participated in the Iowa High School Music Association Large Group Contest held at Algona High School on May 5.

Both ensembles received a Division I rating from a panel of three adjudicators in each performance center. The Concert Band’s competition program consisted of “Yorkshire Ballad” by James Barnes and “Black Tower Overture” by Kevin Kaisertshot. The A Cappella Choir’s competition program consisted of “The Gift To Be Simple” by Bob Chilcott, “Trees” by Eriks Esenvalds, “Let Me Fly” by Robert DeCormier and “Fill My Mouth With Thy Praise” by Shawn Vaske, a former graduate of Bishop Garrigan who composed the piece for the Bishop Garrigan A Cappella Choir.

The Concert Band and A Cappella Choir are under the direction of Ken and Linda Ferjak.
