Trinity Regional is a top rural hospital in US

UnityPoint Health — Trinity Regional Medical Center has been named one of the top 100 rural and community hospitals in the United States by The Chartis Center for Rural Health.

It’s the fourth consecutive year the Fort Dodge hospital has been recognized that category.

Regarded as one of the industry’s most significant designations of performance excellence, the annual Top 100 Rural & Community Hospitals award is based upon the results of the Hospital Strength INDEX® from iVantage Health Analytics. Trinity is one of four Iowa hospitals to receive this distinction in 2019.

“This recognition speaks to our team’s amazing work and relentless focus on providing the best health care possible to our community,” said Leah Glasgo, president and CEO of UnityPoint Health — Fort Dodge.

Hospitals recognized as a top 100 facility scored in the top 100 among all rural and community hospitals nationally. The INDEX leverages 50 rural-relevant indicators across eight pillars of hospital strength including inpatient market share, outpatient market share, cost, charge, quality, outcomes, patient perspective and financial stability to determine an overall score for each hospital. Each of the INDEX’s 50 indicators is culled from publicly-available data sources.

Five UnityPoint Health hospitals are listed in the Chartis Center for Rural Health 2019 Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals. Greater Regional Health, of Creston, Loring Hospital, of Sac City, Cherokee Regional Medical Center, Humboldt County Memorial Hospital and UnityPoint Health — Jones Regional Medical Center, of Anamosa, are five of the 15 Iowa hospitals to make the Chartis list.
