Rides Bar & Grill, 723 S. 31st St., is once again in the running for the distinction of having the best burger in Iowa. This is the fifth time in six years that the restaurant has been in contention for the honor.

The Iowa Beef Industry Council and the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association have announced the top 10 finalists. That list is based on nominations submitted by Iowans.

Rides gets its beef from Sawyer’s Meats of Iowa Inc., 414 Second Ave. S.

All 10 restaurants will soon be visited by anonymous judges who will evaluate the burgers based on taste, appearance and proper cooking.

The winner of the best burger contest will be crowned on May 1.

In 2010, Sac County Cattle Company, of Sac City, won the best burger contest.
