On March 20, the community of Varina received the 2018 Keep Iowa Beautiful Robert D. Ray Award of Excellence for its aggressive efforts in making the community a stronger and better place to live and work. Gov. Kim Reynolds presented the award to community representatives in her office at the state Capitol.
