Brown Bag Briefings begin

Brown Bag Briefings are a series of free public programs held at the Fort Dodge Public Library, 424 Central Ave. Each program is held from noon to 1 p.m. Participants are encouraged to bring a sack lunch. Coffee is provided. The programs are sponsored by FRIENDS of the Fort Dodge Public Library.

The spring session will be held each Thursday in April.

“Alzheimer’s Disease – What You Should Know” will be presented by Greg Woods, Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Iowa, Webster County Office, on Thursday. Every 67 seconds someone in the United States develops Alzheimer’s. Learn about the disease and resources available to help family and friends of Alzheimer’s patients.

“Students Speak Up!” will be presented by Lindey (Breffle) Krug, an English, speech and dramatics instructor as well as sponsor for Large Group/Individual Speech Competitive Teams at Fort Dodge Senior High, on April 14. Krug will bring FDSH students who participated in individual state speech contest this spring.

“Eat Your Herbs!” will be presented by Holly VanHeel, Nutrition and Wellness Program specialist and ISU Extension on April 21. VanHeel will discuss how to grow herbs, how to use them effectively in cooking and how to preserve some of those delicious herbs. Come learn how to add some flavor and flair to your cooking!

“More Than A Museum” will be presented by Eric Anderson, director of the Blanden Memorial Art Museum. Anderson will give a brief history of the Blanden. He will explain his creative and innovative programming designed to help enhance the community. Have you been to the Blanden lately? Come and see how the Blanden will be looking into the future.
