Kermit N. Smith Jr.

Kermit N. Smith Jr., of Fort Dodge will celebrate his 90th birthday on March 24, 2019.

His family includes his wife, Donna, Lynnsay Alt, and Allyson and Greg Thompson. He has seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was born in Obert, Nebraska. He graduated from Obert High School and was the valedictorian of his class. He furthered his education at Wayne State College in Nebraska and earned his masters plus from the University of South Dakota. He served in the United States Army from July of 1951 to July of 1953.

On, Aug. 5, 1960, he married Donna Jensen in South Sioux City, Nebraska, and they have been married for 58 years. He taught at the Fort Dodge Community College and then Iowa Central Community College from 1962 until he retired in 1995. After his retirement, he continued to teach part time for Buena Vista University.
