St. Edmond boys win on the links

The St. Edmond boys golf team showed vast improvement in their first home meet of the season.

The Gaels shot a 185, topping Southeast Valley’s 202. St. Edmond dropped 22 strokes from their 207 against South Central Calhoun on Friday night.

“We improved quite a bit from Friday night,” said St. Edmond head coach Dan Streit. “Gibb was gone the first time, so it was nice to have everyone there.”

Korbin Brown (49) and Preston Derrig (51) were the other counting scores for the Gaels. Also competing for the Gaels was Peyton Scott (53) and Bennett McCarville (54).

“Andrew and Drew have come a long way,” Streit said. “Andrew hasn’t shot much this year and Drew is starting to get in shape.
