Gaels roll past Bulldogs

The St. Edmond boys tennis squad cruised to an 8-1 win over Hampton-Dumont on Tuesday.

Gage Johnson (10-0 victory), Elijah Litwiller (10-6), Matt Kornder (10-6), Jonah Hindt (10-3) and Cooper Fleming (10-8) all came out on top in singles action for the Gaels. Johnson and Litwiller (10-6), Mitchell Rasmussen and Kornder (10-5), and Fleming and Hindt (10-8) prevailed on the doubles side.

“We had a tough meet against Ballard last week, but the guys knew what they needed to do and kept working hard to learn from that experience,” Gael head coach Jacob Short said. “They were able to build some more confidence (against the Bulldogs) and were more deliberate about placing their shots. It was nice to see our growth.”

Lucas Kornder and Jack McEvoy also took singles wins for the St. Edmond JV squad, while Kornder and McEvoy teammed for a doubles victory as well.

St. Edmond returns to action on Thursday at Carroll Kuemper, beginning at 3:30 p.m.
