DODGER GIRLS WIN AT THE NETS
The Fort Dodge girls tennis squad picked up a 7-4 home victory over Des Moines North on Tuesday.
Junior Kathryn Cochrane, freshman Ellie White, senior Brooke Erickson and senior Lizzie Baker were straight-set winners in both singles and doubles competition for the Dodgers. Cochrane, White and Erickson all dropped just a single game in singles action, and Cochrane and Erickson swept through their doubles match without dropping a point.
“It was really fun to see the teams do well — both varsity and junior varsity,” FDSH head coach Tim Johnson said. “Winning obviously boosts their morale and confidence. They show more passion and have a little more spring in their step when things are going well.
“We continue to move in a positive direction.”
Sophomore Daisha McDonald was the other singles winner for the Dodgers. Both Baker and McDonald prevailed in three sets on the singles side.
Jeanie Boro, Michaela Kauffman, Sierra Bethke, Raelle Wilder, Ava Larson, Brooke Hanson, Augusta Cook and Jessica Jordison all triumphed for the JV squad.
Fort Dodge is back on the court at West Des Moines Valley on Thursday.
