Gael girls lose to Cadets

IOWA FALLS — The St. Edmond girls dropped a 51-31 decision here Friday night to ninth-ranked (Class 3A) Iowa Falls-Alden.

The Cadets jumped out to a 26-14 lead at the half and never looked back, as three players reached double figures.

For the Gaels, Macey Mason had six points, with Cambrie McBride and Jacque Oberg adding five each.

St. Edmond was playing on the road for the second consecutive night after falling to Manson Northwest Webster Thursday.

“I thought we defended our tails off,” SEHS head coach Steve Neuberger said. “We played really good team defense, we just have to knock down some shots.

“I told the girls after that we’ll keep working and our offense will click. Once that does, we’ll start winning games.”

Iowa Falls-Alden has won seven in a row, including each of the last four by 20-plus points. Grace Renaud scored a game-high 14 with Katie Meyer adding 12 and Madalyn Juhl 11.

Next action for the Gaels is Tuesday when they host Hampton-Dumont.
