Pearson wins for Dodgers

WAUKEE — Cole Pearson continued his fast start to the swim season, scoring a victory in the 50 freestyle here for Fort Dodge Thursday night.

Waukee won the dual, 128-42, over the Dodgers.

Pearson, a senior who has committed to swim at the University of South Dakota next year, clocked a time of 22.16 in the 50. He was also runner-up in the 100 free in 49.09, just off the winning time of 49.05.

“Cole really doesn’t take time off between seasons,” FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “He’s put in a lot of work and really wants to make an impact in his senior season.”

Coert Groff was third in both the 200 free (2:05.89) and 500 free (5:46.33).

Pearson, Groff, Ben Lennon and Max Doebel placed second in the 200 free relay, posting a time of 1:38.97.

“We had some good results and continue to drop times,” Beaumont said.

Lennon was also fourth in the 100 I.M. and Demetri Grantham finished fourth in the 100 fly.

The Dodgers return to action Saturday at the Boone Invitational.
