Hartley, Xiao in finals for Dodgers
MARSHALLTOWN — Grace Hartley advanced to two finals here Friday in prelim action at the state swim meet, setting two new school records in the process.
Hartley, a sophomore from Fort Dodge, clocked a time of 5:11.00 in the 500 to earn the No. 8 seed. West Des Moines Dowling’s Berit Quass had the top time in 4:48.88, which set a new state-record.
Hartley also advanced to the 200 I.M. finals after placing 13th in the prelims with a time of 2:11.84, which also set a new school-best.
Luanne Xiao moved into the 100 back finals by placing 10th in the prelims. The junior had a time of 58.37 and also finished 29th in the 50 free prelims (25.25).
Madigan Peimann was 20th in the 200 free with a time of 1:59.06 and 29th in the 100 free in 55.61.
Elora Fierke was 28th in the I.M. (2:16.16) and 29th in the 100 breast (1:11.53.).
The Dodgers will also swim Saturday in the 200 free and 400 free relays. Action begins at 4 p.m.
