Dodgers no match for No. 10 Jaguars
ANKENY — The Fort Dodge girls basketball team ran into another juggernaut on Tuesday night, losing to 10th-ranked (Class 5A) Ankeny Centennial 73-21.
The Dodgers (0-2 overall) didn’t match up well with the Jaguars’ size, as Centennial was able to do damage down low.
“They were tough on the blocks,” said FDSH head coach Scott Messerly.”They have good guards and are pretty deep. They picked across on offense and sealed our sides and it bothered us down low.
“We didn’t play well in the first half. The second half got a little better.”
Meg Burns led the Jaguars with 12 points. Elle Street and Bella Robben had 10 points each, while Rachel Schon had nine and Kenna Sauer added eight.
Freshman Tory Bennett led the Dodgers with nine points. Jebreauna Clark added six.
“Tory and Jebreauna had good games,” Messerly said. “We played good at times and seemed to handle their press, but we had trouble making shots.”
The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday when they host Des Moines Lincoln at 6:15 p.m.
