Dodger bowlers sweep in opener

The Fort Dodge bowling teams swept West Des Moines Dowling in the debut head coach Nick Vinson on Tuesday.

The Dodger boys won, 2,779 to 2,232, and the girls rolled, 2,459 to 1,475.

“We came out and bowled really well,” Vinson said. “I was really impressed with the girls, and the boys were consistent. It was a great score for this early in the season. We won all 15 bakers between varsity boys and girls and JV boys.”

Tre Preston led all individuals with a 417 series. Preston also had the Dodgers’ high game at 229.

Jared Jacobson followed with a 385 (204, 181). Next in line was Brady Graves (349).

On the girls side, Leah Sanck led all bowlers with a 429. She had games of 206 and 223. Alexis Kenney added a 359 series.

The boys junior varsity team won 2,264-1,806. Skyler Edgerton led the Dodgers with a 292. He had games of 139 and 153.

Alexis Hanson led the girls junior varsity with games of 136 and 138 for a 274.

The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Urbandale. Action begins at 3 p.m.
