Another title for FD’s Ross
GREENSBORO, N.C. — After a two-year hiatus, it didn’t take Dreshaun Ross long to once again reach the top of the Super 32 podium.
The Fort Dodge fifth grader added another championship to his growing list of accomplishments here on Sunday, securing the 120-pound gold medal in the 11U bracket.
Ross, who hasn’t participated in the Super 32 Challenge since taking a title as an 8-year-old in 2015, pinned Taylor Hruby of Colorado in the first period before defeating Owen McMullen of Pennsylvania by major decision. He also earned a bye on his way to first place.
Ross has been making a name for himself on a national level for quite some time. The son of Fort Dodge’s Andre and Amy Ross is a three-time defending Trinity Award winner — a rare honor given to any wrestler who wins the Kickoff Classic, Tulsa Nationals and Reno Worlds in the same season.
