Tritons face No. 5 Kirkwood

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Iowa Central men will get their third shot at fifth-ranked Kirkwood here Thursday night, as the two collide in a Region XI semifinal.

Tip is set for 7 p.m.

The Tritons (20-11 overall) advanced with a 72-67 victory over Ellsworth on Tuesday night, as Tray Croft scored 26 points.

Croft, who broke his own single-season scoring record, added six rebounds and three assists. He has scored 1,567 points in his career with 169 made 3-pointers.

Royshawn Webb scored 20 points with four rebounds, Thomas Akamarmoi added 12 points and eight boards, Dallas Bailey 11 and Collin Shannon recorded five assists.

Iowa Central sank six late free throws to secure the win over the Panthers. They finished the game 15-for-15 at the line compared to 1 of 1 by Ellsworth.

Earlier this year, Kirkwood (24-5) swept the two games, 84-62 and 85-79.

In the other semifinal, Iowa Lakes hosts defending national champion Southwestern. The championship is set for Saturday.
