Triton softball team wins two
CONCORDIA, Kan. — The Iowa Central softball team won two of three games here Saturday, getting back to .500 on the season.
The Tritons, who are now 8-8 on the year, topped Cloud County (6-1) and Southeast Nebraska (16-7) after falling to Highland (11-3) at the Cloud County Tournament.
Kallie Malloy picked up the win vs. Cloud County, striking out 14 over seven innings of work with four hits allowed. Alexis Egan had two hits, Jenna Peschel and Lexi Dunkelberger each drove in a pair for Iowa Central.
“Malloy had a great game and our offense really got going vs. Cloud and Southeast Nebraska,” ICCC head coach Rick Sandquist said. “We had some big innings and strung together good rallies.”
Jessa May had four hits for the Tritons vs. Southeast Nebraska.
In the loss to Highland, Katerina Anthony had a home run and drove in six runs, and Payton Adwell was 3-for-3 with a homer.
“We just had one bad inning vs. Highland,” Sandquist said. “They beat Kirkwood earlier, 9-1, and are a very good team.”
Iowa Central, which has won four of its last five overall, finishes up play here on Sunday vs. Central-Columbus at 10 a.m. and Barton at 2 p.m.
