ENID, Okla. — The Iowa Central softball team came away with two one-run victories on Sunday in Oklahoma.

The Tritons (6-7 overall) won the first contest 9-8 with the international tie-break rule in the eighth and the second contest 3-2.

Alyssa Dema hit a two-run home run in the seventh inning to tie the contest and Jenna Peschel had a two-out hit to score the winning run in the eighth.

Jessa May (4-1) picked up the win with nine strikeouts and one walk.

Alexis Egan, Katerina Anthony, Dema and Destiny Perry all had two hits.

Kallie Malloy (2-4) earned the win with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Katerina Anthony and Cheyenne Andersen had home runs. Andersen was 2-for-3 in the contest.

“It was a long trip down here, drving nine and half hours,” said Iowa Central head coach Rick Sandquist. “It was an ugly win the first game, we lost the lead and battled back.

“Both pitchers pitched well.”

The Tritons are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Cloud County, Kansas for a tournament.
