The Fort Dodge boys have been on a hot streak lately, and they’re hoping that will carry over into the postseason.

The Dodgers (13-8 overall), who have won six of their last seven contests, will open tourney action on Monday at home against Des Moines East (0-21) in a Class 4A, Substate 8 opening round game.

Action begins at 7 p.m. in the Dodger gym.

Fort Dodge won two straight road games last week, with a 49-39 victory over Ames on Friday and a 45-41 victory at Des Moines Roosevelt.

Last season, the Dodgers were upset at home by Des Moines East in the opening round of substate play.

Senior Malcolm Clayton is leading the Dodgers in scoring at 371 points this season and 17.7 points per game.

Clayton has 1,038 career points, and is fourth on the Dodgers all-time scoring charts. He is 19 points behind Mitch Eslick for third on the charts.

Clayton is joined in the starting lineup by senior Trey Mosley, junior Jordan Jackson, junior Jace Peterson, and sophomore Tysen Kershaw.

Fort Dodge recently secured its first back-to-back winning seasons in 29 years.

The winner of Monday’s contest heads to Johnston on Friday for a semifinal contest with the seventh-ranked Dragons.
