Pocahontas Area boys top ESC in TLC showdown
POCAHONTAS –The Pocahontas Area boys earned a tough 71-62 victory over East Sac County and regained sole possession of second place in the Twin Lakes Conference on Tuesday night.
The Indians (11-6 overall, 8-2 in the TLC) remained one game behind Newell-Fonda after the Mustangs defeated Graettinger-Terril on Tuesday.
“We showed a lot of composure in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter,” said PAC head coach Brian Friesner. “With the victory, this puts us in second place by ourselves in the Twin Lakes Conference.”
Only five Pocahontas Area players reached the scoring column, but four were in double figures and three were near the 20-point plateau.
Jace Davidson led the scoring attack with 19 points. Nathan Aljets and Cameron Callion finished with 18 each.
Freshman Trey Oehlertz chipped in with 12 points.
“We were 21-for-25 from the free throw line to ice the game,” Friesner said. “It was nice to see, since they hit seven threes and we only hit two.
“It was good for our four guys to be in double figures, with three of them near 20 points. And the fourth was a freshman.”
Camden Schroeder led the Raiders with 18 points. Brandyn Clair and Levi Olhausen chipped in with 12 points each.
