Knights top SE girls
CARROLL — The St. Edmond girls were unable to get back into the win column here Saturday night, falling to Carroll Kuemper, 66-42.
Livi Huss led the Gaels (3-13 overall) with nine points and Erin Flattery added eight. Both Jocy Timmerman and Brea McNeil chipped in with seven each.
For the Knights (13-5), Maci Overmohle scored a game-high 17 points. Kuemper has scored back-to-back wins of at least 20 points and are 7-3 over the last 10.
“We competed hard for all 32 minutes, which was something we didn’t do (Friday) in a loss at Iowa Falls-Alden,” SEHS head coach Steve Neuberger said. “We had some lapses, but against a good Kuemper team, I thought we didn’t play that bad.”
After the third, the Knights went up 48-30, giving them their largest lead of the game. St. Edmond had cut the deficit to nine with 3:49 left in the quarter before a 12-3 run by Kuemper.
The Gaels prepare for a three-game week coming up, heading to Webster City Tuesday, hosting Pocahontas Area Thursday and welcoming Clear Lake on Friday.
