FD swimmers win five events

JOHNSTON — The Fort Dodge swimming team won five events in a dual against Johnston on Thursday.

The Dodgers dropped a 109-61 decision.

Cole Pearson and Andrew Fierke were both double winners.

Pearson captured gold in the 200 freestyle (1:48.03) and the100 freestyle (48.85).

Fierke won the 500 freestyle (4:46.44) and the 100 breaststroke (1:01.52).

“We mixed up the events a little going into break,” FDSH assistant head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “We still had some really good times and strong swims against a very tough Johnston team.

“Overall, it was a good night.”

The quartet of Pearson, Landon Getting, Fierke and Ben Lennon earned first in the 400 freestyle relay (3:25.19).

Eli Asay set a personal best in the 100 breaststroke, finishing in 1:05.98.

The Dodger team of Pearson, Getting, Lennon and Asay were second in the 200 freestyle (1:34.19).

Lennon was third in the 100 butterfly (1:09.04).
