Iowa Central teams split

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Iowa Central swim teams took on Nebraska Wesleyan and Coe College here on Saturday.

The Triton men lost to Wesleyan (120-82), but defeated Coe (118-80). The women topped Wesleyan (98-74), but fell to Coe (149-61).

Noah Dalton and Lasse Jorgensen were double winners. Dalton took the 200 freestyle (1:48.52) and 100 freestyle (48.37). Jorgensen captured the 50 freestyle (season-best 22.13) and 50 backstroke (25.56).

Fort Dodge Senior High graduate Mitchell Emery grabbed gold in the 100 individual medley (55.57).

On the women’s side, Sandra Alonso-Rivas earned titles in both the 50 freestyle (25.41) and 100 freestyle (56.41).

”We swam very well,” ICCC head coach Joe Plane said. ”There were a lot of season bests. The kids are getting faster. More importantly, they’re really supporting each other well before, during and after races. That’s a very important aspect of the program.”

The Tritons return to action on Dec. 1 in Rochester, Minn.
