Titans cruise

LAKE CITY — South Central Calhoun racked up 391 yards of total offense and shut out Southeast Valley, 28-0, on Friday night.

Jonathon Frantz led the Titans (2-1 overall, 1-0 district) on the ground with 22 carries for 139 yards. He had a 10-yard scoring jaunt.

Chase McAlister threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Jared Birks. McAlister also caught a 25-yard scoring strike from Hunter Muhlbauer.

Tanner Fistler had a one-yard touchdown and McAlister and Josh Henkenius both had interceptions.

Kyler Fisher led Southeast Valley on the ground with 34 yards on six carries.

Hunter Kruse was 9-for-17 passing for 81 yards. Nyles Johnson had four catches for 37 yards.

Williams runs for 302

WEBSTER CITY — Fifth-ranked (Class 3A) Webster City overcame a slow start to roll past Gilbert here Friday night, 42-20.

Zane Williams had 370 yards of total offense, including touchdowns of 80, 68, 65 and 37 yards. He carried the ball 24 times for 302 yards.

Dylan Steen also had a 46-yard touchdown run, finishing with 89 yards rushing. On defense, Steen had a 52-yard interception return for a touchdown for the Lynx (3-0 overall, 1-0 in district).

Luke Rohmiller and Caleb Olson each had 10 tackles on defense.

Eagles improve to 3-0

STUART — The Eagle Grove football team remained unbeaten, downing West Central Valley here Friday night, 41-17.

The Eagles (3-0 overall, 1-0 in district) got it done on the ground, carrying the ball 67 times for 325 yards.

Brayden Lyman rushed 19 times for 114 yards and scored twice, Evan Anderson had 105 yards and a touchdown, and Niko Padilla added 100 yards and two scores.

John Mosley also caught a touchdown from Lyman.

Ryan Smith picked off two passes and Mosley also had an interception.

Mustangs win ranked contest

NEWELL — Jesse Haack put fifth-ranked (8-man) Newell-Fonda up with his fourth rushing touchdown of the game late in the fourth.

Haack also made the game-winning stop on defense, tackling Jacob Conlon at the 3-yard line as time expired, giving the Mustangs a 25-22 victory over No. 6 Graettinger-Terril/R-A here Friday night.

For the game, Haack carried the ball 37 times for 210 yards, scoring from 52, 3, 48 and 3.

Austin Gerdes added 45 yards and Bryce Coppock 22 more on the ground for Newell-Fonda (3-0 overall, 1-0 in district).

The loss was the first for Graettinger-Terril/R-A, dropping them to 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the district.

Volf kicks game-winner

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt football team handed Spencer its first loss of the season here Friday night, 17-14.

Lucus Volf kicked a 22-yard field goal with 2:15 left for the win.

Joey Busse had a 5-yard touchdown run and also tossed a 47-yard TD strike to Eli Sande.

Tyler Vitzthum carried the ball 25 times for 128 yards, with Busse adding 73 yards on the ground. Volf also had three catches for 46 yards and made two extra-points.

Golden Bears roll at home

ALGONA — Fourth-ranked Bishop Garrigan earned a 32-6 victory over Sioux Central on Friday night.

Drew Bacha had three touchdowns and 150 yards rushing for the Golden Bears (3-0 overall, 1-0 district).

Brad Capesius had a 53-yard touchdown and Sam Vaske had a one-yard touchdown run.

The Golden Bears had 410 total yards.

Zach Muller had 14 tackles and Eric Thul had nine tackles.

Bacha and Preston Kohlhaas both had interceptions.

Cougars fall on the road

JEWELL — The Manson Northwest Webster football team dropped their district opener to South Hamilton here Friday night, 46-24.

Derek Girard tossed two touchdowns to Keegan Pritchard, hitting him from six and 12 yards out. Girard finished 15 of 29 for 184 yards for the Cougars (1-2 overall, 0-1 in district).

Pritchard had 10 catches for 113 yards and the two scores, with Blake Larsen also catching three passes for 47 yards.

Larsen had a rushing touchdown, as did Reid Steinberg.
