FDSH bounces back to split at Mason City

MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge softball team rebounded in a big way after a disappointing opener here on Monday against Mason City.

After losing game one to the Mohawks, 5-3, the Dodgers bounced back to rout Mason City in the nightcap, 18-2.

Senior Mack Provin went 5-for-5 with three runs scored and three RBI for Fort Dodge (17-16 overall) in the second contest. Aubrey Davis added four hits and three runs scored.

Tristin Doster was 3-for-6 with a pair of RBI, while Loghen Schnetzer and Bre Tjebben added three hits each. Maggie Harvey and Daphne Alstott recorded two hits each, with one of Harvey’s being a home run.

Schnetzer and Davis tripled. Provin doubled twice, as did Tjebben. The Dodgers finished with 25 hits.

Fort Dodge plated five runs in the sixth inning and eight in the seventh to pull away. Tjebben went the distance, scattering six hits and striking out five.

In the opener, the Dodgers had just three hits. Mason City (10-24) scored three times in the first inning and two more in the second, then held on.

Fort Dodge committed six errors in the loss. Meagan Hartman allowed only two earned runs in her complete-game effort.

The Dodgers take on Carlisle at home on Tuesday night.
