Dodgers swept at Dowling

WEST DES MOINES — The 10th-ranked (Class 5A) Fort Dodge softball team dropped a doubleheader with No. 12 West Des Moines Dowling here Monday night.

Scores were 1-0 and 6-2.

The Maroons (6-2) have won four out of their last five, losing only 1-0 to No. 4 (5A) Indianola.

“Dowling has really improved since last year,” FDSH head coach Andi Adams said. “We struggled to put anything together at the plate, which is frustrating because we have been hitting the ball so well.

“Our fielding was great; we just need to put it all together.”

Bre Tjebben pitched the first game, but was forced out early due to an injury for the Dodgers (6-5).

“She made the final pitch, but rolled her ankle,” Adams said. “We’re not sure how bad it is just yet. It’s been a tough year already in terms of injuries for us.”

Daphne Alstott had two hits in the opener, while Maggie Harvey went 4-for-4 in the nightcap. Meagan Hartman and Tehya Miller each drove in a run, while Hartman and Loghen Schnetzer had two hits each.

Fort Dodge returns home to face Mason City here Wednesday night at Rogers Park.
